The Benefits of Being in Women in Business

Through Women in Business, a career-focused and community-driven organization at San Diego State University, there are many benefits for members of any major or minor who are interested in a business-centered career or job opportunities. These meetings and events for our members are tools to better prepare themselves to be more successful in the workforce and engage in future business opportunities. The many available resources for members gives them an insight into the world of business and life after college, whether that be through general body meetings, social events to network with other members, professional workshops, or informative speaker conferences. Many of these professional workshops include resume design, interview skills, LinkedIn tips, and many more, all tools to create successful business leaders from the San Diego State University community.

These successful business leaders stemming from SDSU students are members who value and display one of our core S.I.S.T.E.R. values of Self-Care, Intersectionality, Scholarship, Transparency, Empowerment, and Resilience. These values are emphasized in our organization and are strongly implemented with each of our general body movements in order to condition these leaders within our club. In addition to each of these resources, as an organization we integrate and educate important societal issues, being accepting of ever member no matter their culture, religion, race, or sexual orientation. We strive to emphasize diversity within and educate our members on the importance and value of being aware of these differences in a business environment to prepare them for future success.

While striving for excellence in an inclusive environment for women and minority groups, Women In Business is beneficial for future career successes in providing leadership experience and volunteering opportunities to give back to both the organization and the community. This club focuses on the networking aspect in a business environment, implementing and informing members of internship and job opportunities that can best prepare them for their future business endeavors. These workshops, speaker panels, and leadership opportunities are emphasized to support and provide knowledge for individuals who identify as women and are interested in an area focused in business, ultimately preparing them for after-college success.
